    Description

20 cm high glass Crookes radiometer
The Crookes radiometer consists of a partial vacuum bulb, in which we have placed a rotating system consisting of a metal axis on which can turn a set of four mica fins, each of which has one of the faces blackened to carbon black and the other silver. Exposed to electromagnetic radiation, these fins start to rotate all the more quickly as the radiation is important.
It was invented in 1873 by William Crookes to measure magnetic radiation, it is found that the heat of the hand is sufficient for the device to turn, even slowly. In fact, the heat radiated is infrared radiation
