Description
You are bidding on a beautiful copy ofFreak Out Hot Spots
Map
from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. There is a small rip in each copy, due to this, the reduced price.
The album
Freak Out!
was game changing. The Mothers' debut set the standard for Zappa in the 70s. The map was obtained by sending .00 to MGM Records (the LP was Verve) and you would receive a black, white and red copy (there was a blurb in the gatefold of the album). The map was all the cool places in L.A. from the Hollywood Ranch Market to the "sanctuary" of Laurel Canyon where Zappa lived. The map is 20X16. These were cheaply printed and the writing (legend) is blurry. That does not detract from how cool it is. It is folded like a map into 8 sections. Will look great framed. Versions with a Certificate of Authenticity sell for thousands of dollars (these too are often blurry). One on eBay recently sold for more than 00!
I do not have any provenance
with regard to the map other than I found them in a box of my mother's memorabilia. She worked in the industry and has a myriad of cool things, but these are my favorites.
Due to the lack of COA/provenance, the Buy It Now is low.
This is one cool collectible.
